Thanks to our ever evolving personal devices, mainly the smartphone and IoT (Internet of Things), accompanied with the reliability of our Internet and backup Internet (second source), it is indeed a natural progression.

Home monitoring devices such as CCTV can give you live update of premises, with access control you basically have a good idea of who entered your home.
